On the other hand, there is Brian Armstrong, the CEO of Coinbase, who thinks the call to pause AI development is a “bad idea”. Armstrong believes that progress should not be stopped by fear and warns against those who try to centralize control. He argues that there are no “experts” to judge on this subject and adds that “many disparate actors will never agree.”

Criticism of the criticism
There are also speculations about the motives of the prominent signatories of the open letter. Satvik Sethi, former product leader for NFT‘s at Mastercard, expressed his opinion on Twitter. He suggested that some signatories may have a personal interest in slowing down competitors in order to advance themselves in the AI world.
Meanwhile, Italy has become the first country to investigate the artificial chatbot. The country has ChatGPT temporarily blocked, as it may violate data protection privacy rules. OpenAI has been asked to immediately restrict data processing for Italian users.
