FTX ex-CEO will plead not guilty to latest accusation

FTX ex-CEO SBF steeds dieper in de problemen na nieuwe bekentenis

Earlier this week you could read in the crypto news that the former CEO of fallen crypto exchange FTX, Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), had expanded his laundry list of official charges. In addition to the existing complaints, the charge of conspiracy to violate anti-bribery laws has been added.

According to a reporting from Reuters As it did earlier this year, SBF will plead not guilty to the latest charge.

SBF continues to plead for innocence

At the beginning of this year, SBF pleaded not guilty to eight charges of fraud, among other things, during a hearing in New York. He risks going to prison, but the trial will not start until October this year. SBF has said that it was never aware of all the violations of its crypto exchange.

With the addition of the allegations of bribing a Chinese government official, SBF now faces a 13-count indictment.

In the most recent indictment, SBF is accused of attempting to bribe one or more Chinese government officials with approximately $40 million in crypto. With this transaction, the former CEO of FTX wanted to achieve access to several frozen accounts.

While SBF continues to insist that he has nothing to do with anything, other big names within the fallen empire have already pleaded guilty. Some time ago, Caroline Ellison, former CEO of Bankman-Fried’s Alameda research, and Gary Wong, co-founder of FTX, pleaded guilty to several charges. Most recently, Nishad Singh, co-founder of FTX, pleaded guilty to six counts, including fraud, money laundering and wrongful political donations.

Ex-CEO FTX is getting more and more restrictions

SBF was arrested by the police in the Bahamas in December and is currently at his parental home waiting for the trial to start. He was released just over a week later on $250 million bail on the condition that he stay at his parents’ house. It seems that he is in some way abusing the current freedom that he (still) has. For this reason, he is increasingly being restricted. For example, you could recently read that he will most likely soon no longer be allowed to use online chat programs.
