The dream of having an Argentine driver in Formula 1 again is one step closer to becoming a reality. Franco Colapinto, the 19-year-old runner who has been standing out in Europe in recent seasons, achieved two goals that put him closer to his goal. On the one hand, he announced the incorporation of him as a driver of the Williams academy, the historic team that has competed in the highest category for more than four decades. And on the other, he confirmed his arrival at the FIA ​​Formula Three MP Motosport team, one of the most powerful in the F1 prelude category.
Through his social networks, Colapinto announced his incorporation into the historic Formula 1 team to which, among others, Carlos Reutemann from Santa Fe belonged. “It is an honor to tell you that I am going to be part of Williams Racing as an academy driver. It is an incredible opportunity for which I am super grateful. Thanks to all Williams for trusting me,” Colapinto said on his Twitter account.
The rider, just 19 years old, announced in the same message that he will compete for the second season in FIA Formula 3, one of the opening categories of F1. In that division he will trade his old Van Amersfoort Racing team for MP Motorsport. “Eager and very excited to start working with this great team,” added the pilot born in the Buenos Aires town of Pilar.
