Francisco Muñoz wins the First Sunday Cycling Ride of the Americas

The capital rider Francisco Muñoz junior (Club Fénix) prevailed this Sunday in the First Ride (Rai) Dominguero de Las Américas, Pre-Vuelta Independencia 2023 blank, which was held on that crowded road.

Melvin El Panaderito, as the 27-year-old runner is better known, covered the 115 kilometers in two hours, 25 minutes and 33 seconds, beating the several times champion of the Vuelta Independencia, Augusto Sánchez, with whom he ran "the escape of the escape" of the Sunday day.

With 20 kilometers to go in the race, Melvin Muñoz escaped with the also outstanding Augusto Sánchez, Steven Polanco from the capital, Joel García, and Amado Juan and Leonardo Mazara Luis from Rome.

After a violent attack by Barahona Sánchez –which could only be answered by Panaderito Muñoz– there was a "the escape of the escape"being the Fénix runner who was awarded the victory.

After victoriously crossing the finish line located under the pedestrian bridge near the Juan Carlos bridge, Muñoz said he felt very motivated and prepared to represent the Fénix team in the Vuelta Independencia that will run from February 21 to 27.

"I am very well prepared to ride the Vuelta; I just need the necessary help to finish paying for my bike and be able to maintain myself with the supplies, vitamins and proteins that are needed to run that race well."indicated.

He recognized that the Fénix Club, chaired by the journalist Martín Olivo, has been looking for sponsors since October, and that he is confident that the sponsors and collaborators of the winning team of various patriotic rounds will appear.

"Martín Olivo is making every effort so that the team goes with the necessary powers (resources) so that no cyclist or technician has to work in the Vuelta"he highlighted.
