Francisco Cabral Reaches First ATP 500 Final, Loses in Vienna

Portuguese tennis player Francisco Cabral and his Austrian partner Lucas Miedler reached their first ATP 500 final in Vienna on Sunday, falling to British opponents Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool, marking a significant milestone for their relatively new partnership.

The unseeded British duo defeated Cabral and Miedler with a score of 6-1, 7-6 (8-6) in an match lasting one hour and 12 minutes. Cash and Glasspool dominated the first set before securing a tight victory in the second.

For Cabral, 26, the appearance in an ATP 500 final marked a career-first at this level.

The Portuguese-Austrian pair had been seeking their third title on the world circuit since forming their partnership in April of this year.

Despite the loss in Vienna, Cabral and Miedler have quickly established themselves as a formidable team. They previously clinched titles in Hangzhou, China, and Gstaad, Switzerland, earlier this season.

They also reached the final of another tournament in Winston-Salem, United States.
