Four Portuguese Districts Under Orange Warning for Heavy Rain

Southern Portugal is bracing for heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and strong gusts as national meteorological services issued severe weather warnings for several southern districts.

The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) placed four districts under an “orange” warning, its second-highest alert level. These districts are Évora, Faro, Setúbal, and Beja.

The orange warning, indicating a moderate to high meteorological risk, remains in effect until 3:00 PM local time (UTC+0) today. Conditions include “persistent and strong precipitation, sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms and strong gusts.”

Additionally, Santarém and Lisboa are under a “yellow” warning until 12:00 PM local time (UTC+0). This level signifies a risk for activities dependent on weather conditions.

Castelo Branco and Portalegre are also subject to a yellow warning, which lasts until 3:00 PM local time (UTC+0) today.
