Four AI Trends to Redefine Global Business

Artificial intelligence is rapidly shifting from a technological buzzword to an essential operational and strategic backbone for modern organizations, demanding comprehensive integration, robust ethical governance, and advanced cybersecurity measures for long-term success.

This strategic imperative was a central theme at Krungsri Tech Day 2025, where industry leaders emphasized that AI transformation extends beyond software installation to encompass a fundamental reshaping of organizational culture, processes, and leadership vision. Rotphorn Ekabutra, Krungsri’s Head of Digital and Innovation Group, underscored that successful AI adoption, particularly for financial institutions, must be rooted in leadership vision and a commitment to responsible growth, including transparent AI models and meticulous client data management. IBM Thailand Managing Director Anothai Vetayakon added that a resilient underlying data architecture is crucial to support rapidly evolving AI innovations.

A key development highlighted was Agentic AI, intelligent systems capable of independent planning and complex task execution, effectively acting as proactive digital assistants. Watson Thiranphatrapong, AWS Thailand Country Manager, described this as the next stage of AI evolution, promising significant efficiency gains by automating repetitive tasks and allowing human staff to focus on creative and strategic endeavors. Krungsri has already implemented this with its “Data Puppap” solution, which uses Agentic AI to interpret complex financial data into accessible insights, bridging information gaps for non-technical employees. Tuly Rojseranee, Head of Enterprise Data and Analytics Group at Krungsri, noted that data should be viewed as “the voice of the customer,” guiding tailored product and service offerings.

The event also addressed AI’s dual role in cybersecurity, as adversaries increasingly use AI to launch sophisticated, hard-to-detect attacks. Kevin O’Leary, ASEAN Director for Security at Kyndryl, warned that traditional defenses are insufficient against modern threats that combine AI with technologies like 5G, necessitating AI-driven defenses capable of real-time anomaly detection. Monrawee Chiernchaiyarat, Head of Data Solutions and Engineering at Krungsri, further explained that robust AI governance reduces the risk of AI misuse or attack, citing Krungsri’s use of AI to analyze vast log files for suspicious behavior. Anusorn Oopkam, Senior Solution Engineer at Cisco Systems (Thailand), affirmed AI’s importance in building IT system resilience.

Central to sustainable AI integration is strong AI governance, which ensures transparency, algorithmic fairness, and responsible data sourcing. Krungsri’s Monrawee Chiernchaiyarat and Principal IT Planning Weera Palsingh described governance as creating a “safe playground” for innovation, allowing development without incurring undue organizational risk. This perspective was echoed by EY’s ASEAN Technology Consulting Leader, Nitin Datta, and MUFG’s Yasuyuki Nishihara, who stressed that robust governance builds trust, a particularly invaluable asset in the financial sector. Organizations must establish clear frameworks and leadership for AI governance, carefully weighing the sensitivities of data when choosing between public and private generative AI solutions to balance innovation with risk.

The insights from Krungsri Tech Day 2025 underscored that AI is transitioning to become the “central nervous system” of modern enterprises, seamlessly integrating strategy, intelligent operations, business protection, and foundational trust. The challenge for leaders is no longer whether to adopt AI, but how and when to initiate its comprehensive implementation to redefine their organizations into smarter, more agile, and more secure entities. The consensus urged immediate action.
