Former VP Harris: ‘I’m Not Finished,’ Eyes 2028 White House Bid

Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has signaled a determined intent to remain a prominent force in American politics, opening the door to a 2028 presidential bid while delivering sharp criticisms of former President Donald Trump following her defeat in the last election.

Harris, speaking on BBC’s “Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg,” affirmed she is “not finished” with her political career. She also suggested a future presidential run is a strong possibility.

When asked if she might be the woman to become president in her granddaughters’ lifetime, Harris responded, “It could be.” This marks her clearest indication yet of a potential return to the White House race in 2028.

She launched a harsh critique of Trump, labeling him a “tyrant.” Harris claimed her prior warnings about Trump’s authoritarian tendencies during her campaign proved accurate.

The former Vice President accused Trump of “weaponizing the Justice Department.” She cited the alleged suspension of late-night host Jimmy Kimmel’s show by ABC, purportedly due to pressure from Trump-appointed regulators, after Kimmel mocked right-wing activists.

Harris also criticized business leaders and major institutions in the U.S. for “succumbing to power.” She suggested they “bowed down to the tyrant” for economic benefits, such as merger approvals or avoiding investigations.

Her renewed political ambitions come despite recent electoral setbacks. Harris lost to Trump in the last election, with a popular vote margin of less than two percent but a decisive defeat in the Electoral College.

She recently released a book, “107 Days,” chronicling her campaign after President Joe Biden reportedly withdrew from the race due to health concerns. Harris attributed her defeat partly to a late start.

Dismissing concerns about her current standing in polls, where she trails figures like actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson among potential Democratic candidates, Harris stated, “If I listened to the polls, I would never have won any election before.”

The White House responded swiftly to Harris’s remarks. Spokesperson Abigail Jackson stated, “Kamala Harris lost the election resoundingly. She should understand that Americans no longer believe her lies.”
