Florinda Meza Slams Chespirito Bioseries for ‘Falsifying’ Roberto Gómez Bolaños’ Legacy

Florinda Meza recently had a day packed with strong feelings. She shared a nostalgic moment, recreating the famous “Qué bonita vecindad” scene. But she also spoke about what truly angered her in the new bioseries, “Chespirito: Sin Querer Queriendo.” The 76-year-old actress had already called the show “all false.” Still, some specific parts continue to drive her crazy.

The Mexican artist appeared on Telemundo’s morning show ‘Hoy Día.’ Later, she was interviewed on the program ‘La Mesa Caliente.’ There, she once again discussed the project. Roberto Gómez Fernández and his sister Paulina produced the series.

Meza stated, “For years, the public was led to believe it would be a biography. Then, when it was presented to the press, they called it a fantasy. The entire series, all of it, is false.”

Gómez Fernández, ‘Chespirito’s’ son, had already clarified things. He said the bioseries includes fictional parts. These parts were used to fit his father’s most successful time into just eight episodes. He mentioned the content aims to show both the mistakes and triumphs of a real person.

However, for Florinda Meza, that explanation isn’t enough. She pointed out, “They use small bits of my life and Roberto’s life. Then they take them out of context. They are placed out of time and mixed in with thousands of lies. That is illegal.”

The woman who was married to Roberto Gómez Bolaños from 2004 until his passing in 2014 believes the bioseries causes serious harm. She thinks it “devalues the quality of his career” as a writer, actor, and producer.

Florinda Meza stated, “They have caused so much damage to Roberto’s image and his legacy. They are disrespecting him greatly. He was a very humble man, not the frivolous person they portray. He wasn’t a bad father, nor a bad husband. None of that is true.” Meza shared her feelings in an Instagram reel.

She also claims the bioseries shows him as a young dreamer always looking for a chance. Meza strongly denies this. She explained, “Roberto was not a beginner or a young man chasing executives. He was already a well-known writer with a great career. He had many hits and wrote over 50 movies.”

News reports indicate that Us Weekly en Español reached out to HBO producers for their comments on the matter.

Meza also spoke about her own documentary, ‘Atrévete a vivir’ (Dare to Live), announced back in July. She didn’t share new details. She only said she would tell her story through that material “at some point.” It seems fans and curious viewers will need to wait longer, even though September was initially the planned release month.

Weeks earlier, Roberto Gómez Fernández denied that Florinda Meza’s documentary was an act of “revenge” against them. Both Roberto and Paulina have even thanked Florinda. They acknowledged her for giving them opportunities in television as producers in previous years.
