Florida Sheriff Arrests 11-Year-Old Over School Desk Kill List

Florida police arrest 11-year-old for writing 'kill list of friends' on school desk

A disturbing event has unfolded in Florida, where police took an 11-year-old boy into custody. The boy was seen in a video, handcuffed and led into a detention room. This arrest followed the discovery of a “kill list” he had written on a school desk, targeting his classmates.

Reports from global news outlets on September 18, 2025, detailed the incident. Law enforcement officials in the U.S. state of Florida confirmed the arrest of the young boy. He had scrawled the threatening message, meant to intimidate other students, directly onto his school furniture.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office shared the shocking details. The incident took place at Southwestern Middle School in DeLand, Florida. The boy faces a serious felony charge for making a written threat to kill or injure others. In his initial statement, the boy claimed he acted out of anger, saying he was just having a really bad day.

The video released by the Sheriff’s Office shows officers escorting the handcuffed boy. A message posted with the video on social media was stark. It read, “If you’re tired, try to imagine how the other 99% of students, parents, teachers, and school staff feel having to deal with this kind of thing.”

This event has understandably caused widespread alarm. It serves as another painful reminder of the ongoing issues of violence and safety concerns that plague schools in the United States.
