The entertainment world is buzzing with happy news. Music producer Finneas O’Connell finally asked his longtime girlfriend, Claudia Sulewski, to marry him. They’ve been a couple for seven sweet years, and according to reports from a prominent entertainment news channel, Us Weekly, her engagement ring is truly stunning.
The couple shared their joy on Instagram this past Wednesday, September 24. They posted loving photos from the special day. “Forever and always 9.22,” their message read, alongside a close-up shot of the dazzling new ring. It turns out the actual proposal happened on September 22.
A Closer Look at the Ring
Kristy Cullinane, a co-founder and diamond expert at Plum Diamonds, offered her thoughts on the ring’s design. She told the news channel that the ring perfectly blends a unique stone with a simple, yet striking setting. This is a popular style right now.
Cullinane explained that Sulewski’s ring features an elongated antique cushion-cut diamond. It sits in a beautiful platinum compass setting. Instead of the usual corner prongs, this one has them placed at the top, bottom, and sides. This detail gives the ring a timeless and elegant feel.

The expert believes the main stone weighs about 6 to 7 carats. Such a diamond could cost between $350,000 and $500,000. For comparison, a lab-grown diamond of the same size would sell for much less, around $10,000 to $12,000.
A Proposal Straight Out of a Movie
Claudia and Finneas’s heartfelt social media post included several pictures. They captured the romantic sunset where he got down on one knee. There was also a clip of their helicopter ride to the proposal spot. Another video showed them enjoying their unforgettable night by a cozy fire.
Finneas, 28, is a chart-topping musician and the famous brother of Billie Eilish. He first started dating Claudia, 29, a YouTube personality, in 2018. They met on a dating app.
Billie Eilish, 23, couldn’t be happier about gaining a sister-in-law. She posted a picture on her social media showing her on FaceTime with the engaged couple. Billie looked surprised and delighted to see Claudia smiling and showing off her ring. She added three heart-hand emojis to her post.
A Song and a Shared Life
Before proposing, Finneas shared a sweet detail about their early days. He wrote a song called “Claudia” just hours after meeting his future wife. He even sent her parts of the tune, as he told BuzzFeed in 2019. The lyrics hint at their instant connection: “I think you’re gonna change my plans / With those emerald eyes / But you don’t even understand / How much they’re on my mind.”
Claudia has been a huge source of support for Finneas’s career. She even joined her then-boyfriend at the 2020 Grammys during his big night.
While Finneas mentioned to the news channel Us that he wasn’t quite ready for marriage back in 2020, they were both excited to spend more time together. “I think moving in together was a really fun, important step, and adopting a dog, too,” Claudia explained in May 2020. She was promoting their podcast, “We Bought a House with Claudia Sulewski and Finneas,” at the time. “We’re very happy to be able to do those things.”

Finneas also shared that having “uninterrupted” time with Claudia during the pandemic really helped strengthen their bond. “Claudia has been a huge influence on my music because she’s so important in my life,” he said at the time. “I’ve always written about my real experiences, and she’s at the heart of all that. So there are many songs about Claudia.”
