Fernando will not continue at Sevilla

Although the calendar marks the start of a new season, football professionals are always looking to the future. In the case of Sevilla FC, Víctor Orta is preparing to design his first complete project in Nervión, a challenge that brings the inevitable restructuring of the squad. Among the most sensitive decisions is the future of three of the team’s four captains: Jesús Navas, Ivan Rakitic and Fernando Reges.

Uncertainty surrounds these experienced players who have left an indelible mark on the Sevillian club. Jesús Navas and Rakitic, idols of the fans, have expressed their desire to continue at Sevilla and are even willing to accept downward contract extensions based on performance and goals, a strategy reminiscent of the recent signing of Sergio Ramos at PSG remind.

A farewell on the table and practically closed

However, Fernando Reges’ situation is different. The 36-year-old Brazilian midfielder has hinted that this could be his last season with Sevilla FC, newspaper MARCA has revealed. “I think it will be the last time. I won’t lie to you. I’m 36 years old, I think so. I can’t say it 100%, but I can say it 99%,” he said, also adding that he will probably try to finish his career in Brazil or Portugal. Fernando, conscious of his age, is determined to give his best this season and hopes fans will miss him when he leaves.
