A new face is settling into the FC Porto family. Kotaro Nagata, a 20-year-old attacking midfielder, has officially signed with the club. He joins their B team, a key stepping stone for many young talents. This move marks another exciting chapter for the promising Japanese player.
Nagata comes from Yokohama in Japan. For the past two seasons, he played on loan with UD Oliveirense. His time there helped him get used to the pace of European football. Now, he’s ready for a fresh challenge with a long contract. He signed a deal that will keep him at FC Porto until 2030.
The young midfielder shared his excitement with the club’s media. “I feel very happy to be here,” Nagata said. “This club has a big history. Its players show great quality and talent.” He knows FC Porto’s strong standing in the game. “I know FC Porto won the Champions League before. They have a very good record in Portugal. It is a strong club, and I really like that.”
Nagata also spoke about settling in with his new teammates. “My new teammates welcomed me very well,” he explained. “I have already trained with them. I think I adapted well, both physically and technically.” He is focused on his role with the B team. “I will play for the B team. I want to help the group win games.” He added, “I will keep working hard.”
His goals are clear: grow as a player and help his team succeed. “The players on this team are very talented,” Nagata noted. “I want to learn the best from them to improve myself.” When asked about his strengths, he was direct. “I am good technically. My best quality is passing the ball.” His journey from Japan, through a loan spell, and now to a big club’s development squad shows his dedication.
