Caroline Darian, the daughter of Dominique Pelicot, a Frenchman convicted of heinous crimes against his ex-wife, has expressed her sentiments regarding her father’s punishment. In a recent television interview, Darian stated that her father deserves to spend the rest of his life behind bars.
A Troubling Past
Darian’s father was sentenced to 20 years in prison for drugging his ex-wife, Gisèle, and allowing numerous men to rape her over the course of more than a decade. The trial, which took place in the southern French city of Avignon, was highly publicized and shocked the nation.
In addition to Pelicot’s conviction, approximately 50 co-defendants were also found guilty and received prison terms ranging from 3 to 15 years. Gisèle Pelicot, who waived her right to a closed trial, was commended for her bravery and dignity throughout the proceedings.
A Daughter’s Perspective
Caroline Darian, who is now 46 years old, shared her thoughts on her father’s actions during the interview. She described him as a “sexual pervert” and stated that she believes he drugged and raped her as well. Although she lacks concrete evidence, Darian is convinced that her father is guilty of abusing her.
Darian’s father denied the allegations of abuse during the trial. However, his daughter remains resolute in her beliefs, saying, “I think there are two Dominiques coexisting in him, and he decided to choose the dark side. I don’t know if he is a monster, but he knew perfectly well what he was doing. He is not sick.”
As the daughter of a convicted felon, Caroline Darian’s words serve as a poignant reminder of the devastating consequences of her father’s actions. Her story highlights the importance of holding perpetrators accountable for their crimes and providing support to victims and their families.
