Valencia Basket closes its participation in the Euroleague at home with a great victory against Virtus de Bologna. There was nothing at stake in the game, but the Taronja team knew how to play it from the beginning and especially in the last quarter when they stepped on the accelerator to win a victory that broke the losing streak they had in this competition.
Shannon Evans dressed as MVP to lead her team to victory. The point guard finished with 15 points, 6 assists and a PIR of 23. Alexander with 14 points was also very good in the match. Ojeleye finished with 21 points and supported his team for most of the match, but the last quarter ended with (21-11) for Valencia Basket.
Match very even from the beginning. Chris Jones stood out in the first section of the fourth scoring seven points and distributing two assists. He was like the American with an Armenian passport in the game. In the Italian team, which finished the first act with an advantage on the scoreboard (17-19), Ojeleye stood out with five points.
The second quarter began with Virtus scoring, but Hermannsson soon appeared to steal a ball and assist Webb III to score and tie the game at 23 when the Taronja team was worse off and it seemed that Sacariolo’s men were going to escape in the electronic.
Alexander hung from the ring to stop the five consecutive points of the Italians who wanted to put land in the middle, but could not. The game was very open because there was nothing at stake, beyond the victory in the game, and both teams played with less pressure.
The time came for Alexander who wanted to do his bit and he had it in the third quarter to put his team ahead. With a triple from Mickey for Virtus, he finished this period with 58-57 in electronics.
Valencia came out very well to face the last quarter with a great Shannon Evans. In fact, with six minutes remaining, they achieved the maximum difference in the score (+14). The game reached the end and Valencia achieved a victory that serves to boost morale for the rest of the season.
