It was in 2016 when The Australian duo consisting of Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore released their latest album: Two vines. They have since released the EP On the way home a year later they released a reissue for the tenth anniversary of Walking on a dream. However, the group has been virtually inactive since then.

Littlemore refocused on his original project PNAU, while Steele released his first solo album in 2022.. But this 2024 seems to be the perfect time for Australians to return with this great project that we miss so much. We say this because they have been leaving clues on their social networks for several weeks and have created great expectations. Luke Steele and Nick Littlemore are finally back with a new song called “Changes.”

And how does this song sound? well then It’s a great song that talks about going deeper within ourselves and reminds us of Empire of the Sun’s first works. We say this because the main melody combines a rhythmic base of bass, drums and acoustic guitar with amazing synthesizers. Everything together results in a very elegant electropop with a slight touch of psychedelia.

Nick Littlemore said this song from Empire of the Sun “represents the moving sands of time, empires rise and fall, but the sun will continue to shine.” Come once again to the world we created, immerse yourself in it and become a part of its ever-expanding story rewarded; “Everyone is invited to explore the new era.”

On his part Luke Steele mentioned that “Changes” was a “breakthrough” for the group’s next tour: “It felt like a moment of clarity when it became clear that we were in the new era, our time of rebirth, the next chapter of the Empire.”

Until now, Empire of the Sun’s next album has not yet been announced (but it’s almost a fact that after eight years they will return with another studio album). And as they release more information about it and warm up the engines, Below we leave you his new song.
