Elon Musk, the richest man on earth, is a big fan of the popular memecoin dogecoin (DOGE). He often hints at his love for the cryptocurrency on Twitter, the platform that was acquired by Musk in October. Earlier in the altcoin news, you could read Musk’s most important tweets about dogecoin from 2022.
In recent weeks, it has been very quiet in terms of dogecoin tweets from the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX. However, that has now changed.
McDonald’s and DOGE
McDonalds sent last night a tweet into the world with the text ‘what have I missed’. Binance, the world’s largest crypto exchange, responded with “a lot of green candles”. In addition to Binance, Musk also could not resist and responded with ”oh hi lol” on the tweet from the well-known fast food chain.
A twitterer from the dogecoin community unarchived a tweet from Musk in which he said he would eat a happy meal on TV if McDonalds started accepting dogecoin as payment. Musk was asked if this January 2022 offer still stands, to which he responded with “100%.”

After making this proposal, McDonalds had responded as follows at the time: ”Only if Tesla starts accepting Grimacecoin”. Remarkably enough, ‘Grimacecoin’ did not exist at all, so it does not give the impression that McDonalds will actually want to accept dogecoin. Within a very short time, opportunists created a coin called Grimacecoin, which then rose by an astounding 285,000%.
McDonald’s crypto meme
The McDonalds is part of the bitcoin (BTC) and crypto community to some extent. It is customary among bitcoiners to imagine a job at the fast food chain in times of falling prices.
McDonalds therefore regularly focuses on the crypto community in their tweets. It seems McDonalds just wants to generate free publicity and community involvement. Apart from all tweets, the multinational has not yet shown any involvement in the world of cryptocurrencies.
