Elon Musk Claims Grok-4 Surpasses OpenAI GPT-5, Teases Grok-5

OpenAI just rolled out its latest AI model, GPT-5. The company says it’s their smartest and fastest one yet. It boasts advanced reasoning powers. OpenAI claims these greatly surpass other models on the market.

However, Elon Musk isn’t buying it. He leads xAI, the company behind Grok. Musk quickly challenged OpenAI’s claims. He stated his Grok-4 model is already better than GPT-5. He even said Grok-5 would arrive before the end of the year.

The new GPT-5 model is available to everyone. This includes free ChatGPT users and those who use OpenAI’s API. It comes in different versions like GPT-5, GPT-5-mini, GPT-5-nano, and GPT-5-chat. Each is built for different uses.

Musk got support from developer François Chollet, who created ARC-AGI. Musk highlighted that Grok-4 beat GPT-5 in tests. He posted on X that Grok is superior. He called GPT-5 “the best OpenAI system to date, but not the best in the world.”

Musk’s upcoming Grok-5 promises to outdo both Grok-4 and the newly launched GPT-5. The AI race is clearly heating up.

New Features from OpenAI

At its launch event, OpenAI showed off a feature called “vibe coding.” GPT-5 used a single command to create two web applications in seconds. One example was an app to help English speakers learn French. It had flashcards, quizzes, and progress tracking.

The apps weren’t perfect. But users can change them. They can update the look and add new features. Companies like Box have already tested GPT-5. Box CEO Aaron Levie called it a “complete breakthrough” compared to earlier models.

Microsoft Jumps In

Microsoft quickly joined the news. It confirmed GPT-5 is now part of its products. This covers tools for regular users, developers, and businesses. Microsoft 365, Azure, and Teams will all use GPT-5. Subscribers to Copilot will get these new features right away.

Microsoft’s internal tests show GPT-5 has strong security. It helps fight threats like malware and online fraud. This move strengthens the partnership between Microsoft and OpenAI. It places the new AI model firmly in the global tech scene.
