Ekta Kapoor Dismisses Kyunki-Anupamaa Rivalry, Praises Rupali Ganguly as Big Star

The entertainment world has been buzzing with chatter. Many thought a rivalry was brewing between two major TV shows. Whispers suggested “Anupamaa” might feel threatened by the new “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” reboot. But leave it to television queen Ekta Kapoor to clear the air. She recently spoke out, saying that comparing the two shows, or worse, making women compete, is completely out of line.

Ekta Sets the Record Straight

Ekta Kapoor shared her thoughts during an interview with Brut. She saw online videos claiming “Anupamaa” was worried about the “Kyunki” reboot. “This is very wrong,” she stated clearly. Kapoor praised Rupali Ganguly, calling her a truly big star. She also applauded “Anupamaa” and its producer, राजन शाही (Rajan Shahi). “What they have achieved in seven years, no one else has,” she said. “They are number one, and they will stay number one.”

No Room for Unfair Comparisons

Kapoor emphasized a point she often makes. She believes the industry and fans often create pointless competition between shows and actresses. “We are here to tell our stories,” she explained. “It’s wrong to compare shows and characters. It’s especially wrong to pit women against each other.” Her message is simple: there’s enough room for everyone to shine.

Two Beloved Shows, Different Journeys

“Anupamaa” is a huge success story on Indian television. The show centers on family life, personal growth, and the truth of relationships. It brought Rupali Ganguly back into the spotlight.

Meanwhile, “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” is a legendary show from Ekta Kapoor’s own production house. The original series ran for eight years, making history. Now, a reboot of this iconic show is ready to hit screens. It begins on July 29, airing at 10:30 PM on Star Plus and Jio Hotstar. The new series features familiar faces like Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay, who played Tulsi and Mihir. Other cast members include Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, Shakti Anand, Kamalika Guha Thakurta, Shagun Sharma, Rohit Suchanti, Aman Gandhi, Ankit Bhatia, and Tanisha Mehta.
