A Brazilian man who killed a teacher in a drunk driving accident in July 2024 has been sentenced. He must now serve two years of probation, including weekend house arrest.
The victim’s sister says the outcome is unfair. “The justice system is supposed to protect us,” she says. “But it seems to be letting us down.”
The man was found guilty of culpable homicide. While on probation, he cannot leave the country for a year or drive for six months.
