Good news for Dragon Ball lovers – the legendary series is making a comeback, albeit a couple of days ahead of the first anniversary of Akira Toriyama’s passing, the creator of the original manga. Comedy Central has just announced that Dragon Ball Z Kai will begin broadcasting next month, although details about the periodicity of the episodes are still scarce. Unfortunately, we also don’t know how many episodes will be available, as the full anime hasn’t been redubbed yet.
Comedy Central will broadcast Dragon Ball Z Kai, marking the return of Son Goku to our screens. However, it’s worth noting that Animebox, Selecta Vision’s online anime platform, hasn’t started dubbing the BUU saga, which might Stall the emission of the anime on Comedy Central if this last saga isn’t available in Spanish when the time comes.
So, what exactly is DBZ Kai? It’s a readjustment of the anime Dragon Ball Z, which occurred to commemorate the twentieth anniversary of the series’ premiere. This new version has undergone significant improvements, including a considerable reduction in filler episodes, resulting in a total of 98 chapters – a far cry from the 291 episodes of the original Dragon Ball Z series. The Spanish dubbing of the series has also been redone, although some voice actors have changed, so the voices may not match the ones fans have grown up with.
The images in Dragon Ball Z Kai are now in HD and have been adapted to both 4:3 and 16:9 formats for proper broadcast. The voices have been re-recorded, numerous sound effects have been added, and several scenes have been improved or redrawn – all of which contribute to a higher-quality viewing experience. Despite some changes, the series still boasts quality dubbing and other notable improvements that are sure to please both old and new fans of the series.
