Bitcoin Surges to Two-Week High as Trump Survives Assassination Attempt

Despite a near-death experience, former US President Donald Trump will still attend the largest conference in Bitcoin, Bitcoin 2024, this month.

Trump’s Participation Confirmed

David Bailey, CEO of Bitcoin Magazine and one of the organizers of the conference, confirmed Trump’s participation in the event, stating that the former president is in good spirits and excited to deliver a speech at the conference.

The conference, to be held in Nashville, Tennessee, from July 25 to 27, will feature an estimated attendance of over 20,000 people and the participation of renowned figures in the digital asset industry. Trump will be speaking alongside other American politicians, including presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Republican senators Bill Hagerty and Marsha Blackburn.

Trump’s Support for Cryptocurrency

During his presidential campaign, Trump has expressed his strong support for the cryptocurrency industry and the Blockchain, making promises to protect and foster it if re-elected. His stance is a significant shift from his previous critical and skeptical opinion of Bitcoin and the new asset class.

Bitcoin Price Surge

The largest cryptocurrency by market cap, Bitcoin, surged to a two-week high in price following the assassination attempt on Trump, reaching above $63,000 on Monday. The rest of the cryptocurrency market mirrored the uptrend.

Token Prices

In contrast, the token MAGA fell almost 10% in price after the incident, and tokens inspired by the former Republican president have slipped in price in recent hours, according to data from CoinMarketCap.
