Dominican Republic inspects 91% of imports with X-rays

The General Director of Customs, Eduardo Sanz Lovatón, stated that 91% of the containerized imports of the country, and 75% of the merchandise placed on board (FOB)are inspected with non-intrusive technology (X-rays), which has generated a greater volume of cargo and facilitated trade.

He also highlighted the momentum of the Authorized Economic Operators (AEO), currently having 494 certified AEOs. This positions the Dominican Republic as the second economy with the most authorized AEOs in Latin America and the fourth in the Americas and the Caribbean.

These data were offered by the head of the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), when he was invited by the George Washington University as a speaker for the Conference “Anticipatory Governance: The Political Management of Threats and Opportunities”.

In the activity, where more than 60 political leaders, government officials, consultants and students from Ibero-America participated, Sanz Lovatón announced the transformation of Dominican customs in terms of transparency and efficiency.
