Dominant Ludogorets Sack Coach Rui Mota After Just 10 Wins in 23 Matches

Bulgarian champions Ludogorets Razgrad have announced the departure of Portuguese coach Rui Mota, just months into his tenure, following a string of disappointing results.

The 46-year-old Mota leaves the club having secured only 10 victories in 23 matches across all competitions. This performance falls significantly short of the standards expected at Ludogorets, a team renowned for winning the Bulgarian league title for the past 14 consecutive seasons.

Ludogorets stated the decision was made due to “poor results and below-expected performance in recent months,” which did not align with the club’s long-established benchmarks. Negotiations are ongoing with Mota and his technical staff regarding the termination of their contracts.

Mota took charge of the team in July, having previously managed FC Noah, the current Armenian champions.

Second team coach Todor Zhivondov will serve as interim manager. He is set to lead the squad in their upcoming Bulgarian Cup match against Chernomorets Burgas on Thursday. The club made the announcement on Wednesday.
