Three brick tombs from the Ming Dynasty (1644-1368) during excavations for road construction in the northern Chinese province of Shaanxi Have been discovered
The tombs are located in the Luozhou District of Changzhi City. Excavations in the area began last year during road construction.
The tombs are adorned with beautiful Ming-era carvings depicting the sun, moon and other Chinese mythological elements.
According to the Shanshi Provincial Institute of Archeology, the structure of the tombs and the specimens discovered suggest that they may have been family tombs from the early Ming Dynasty.
The roof of a tomb chamber has collapsed and only a few walls remain inside. Experts have removed some of the carvings on the walls for protection.
The carvings on the walls of the other two chambers are preserved.
