FC Porto captain Diogo Costa has returned to club training, expressing a firm commitment to redirect his recent national team success towards upcoming challenges with his long-time club.
Costa emphasized a swift shift in focus after helping Portugal secure qualification for next year’s World Cup. He intends to channel that momentum directly into FC Porto’s objectives.
“Now, we will change the chip back to the club,” Costa told FC Porto media. “We have many battles ahead and want to be as competitive as possible and demonstrate our DNA well during this journey.”
The goalkeeper expressed satisfaction over Portugal’s World Cup qualification, particularly as it occurred at Estádio do Dragão, FC Porto’s home stadium, on its anniversary.
“We achieved qualification for our country and obviously I am very happy, especially since that game was at the Dragão, in our home, on the stadium’s anniversary,” he stated.
Costa added that he wants to “bring the good energies from the National Team to FC Porto and transmit my energy to all my teammates here at the club.”
He further described the day of qualification as “special,” highlighting the immense joy of celebrating at the club’s home ground.
Costa has identified as a “Portista” since birth, underscoring his deep connection to the club.
