Eric Dier, a name many football fans know well, recently moved to Monaco. But the defender still holds onto plenty of memories from his time playing with Bayern Munich. He shared a great story on Ben Foster’s Fozcast podcast. It was a moment between Thomas Müller and Vincent Kompany that got everyone in the room laughing out loud.
Dier remembers the training grounds at Sabener Strasse. He mentioned they weren’t exactly top-notch. One day, Müller and Kompany were having a chat. Dier happened to be nearby and couldn’t help but listen in. What he heard was pure gold, a perfect example of the Bayern winning spirit.
Kompany, a player known for his high standards, looked around and asked a simple question. “Are the pitches always this bad?” he wondered aloud. Müller, never one to mince words, had an immediate and unforgettable comeback. “We were too busy winning titles,” Müller shot back, “we never really cared much about the grass.” Dier said it was a truly classic Müller moment.
