Did Davidovich Ever Find His Way Out of Darkness Again

Davidovich: "I left my comfort zone and was lost for six months"

From Two Sets Down to a Comeback King

Alexander Davidovich has been making waves at the Australian Open, coming back from two sets down in his last two matches to reach the round of 16 for the first time. In an exclusive interview, he opens up about the changes he’s made in his life and game that have contributed to his success.

Turning It Around

When asked about his remarkable comebacks, Davidovich attributes his success to his newfound focus on competing and being present in the moment. He says, “I wasn’t thinking about the result, I just wanted to play… I jumped onto the track with enthusiasm and the only thing I had in mind was to compete and be there.”

Last Year’s Struggles

Davidovich admits that last year was a tough one, with many changes in his life, including a new coach and residence. He says, “I left my comfort zone and was lost for six months… But knowing what the path is, at the end of the year I was already finding that path.” He credits his team for helping him find his way and starting strong in the preseason.

The Decision to Part Ways with Jorge Aguirre

Davidovich discusses the difficult decision to end his relationship with his former coach, Jorge Aguirre. He says, “The decision was hard, but I knew that if I wanted to go up it was the best and I don’t regret it at all.” He’s happy with his new team and feels at peace with himself.

The New Alex Davidovich

When asked what remains of the old Alex Davidovich, he says that he’s no longer into music, but still enjoys cooking and has sensitive skin, which prevents him from getting more tattoos.

New Team, New Beginnings

Davidovich talks about his decision to leave Fernando Verdasco and work with a new tandem, David Sánchez and Félix Mantilla. He says, “We are all very connected and that gives me security.” He also mentions his new physical trainer, who has helped him improve his physique.

The Australian Open and Beyond

Davidovich credits his physical conditioning for his success in the Australian Open. He says, “We have worked differently and it has cost me my life… Seeing that your physique is changing is what gives you the confidence to be down two sets to zero and know that you can last four more hours.”

Monte Carlo and a Fresh Start

Davidovich discusses his move to Monte Carlo and how it’s helped him break away from his old life. He says, “Training with the best in the world every day is what has made me improve… I have trained with everyone in the preseason and it has given me more information to know how to deal with them.”

Life Outside of Tennis

When asked about his hobbies outside of tennis, Davidovich says that he enjoys watching series and movies, but doesn’t have any special interests.
