Former Cricketer’s Concerns
Ex-Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwari has been voicing his opinions, and it appears he has criticized MS Dhoni. Tiwari, a skilled player, seems to be targeting others after being dropped from the team. His career was marked by a notable century against West Indies in 2011, but he did not receive many subsequent opportunities. He played only two matches against Sri Lanka before being dropped.
Team Management and Captaincy
In an interview, Tiwari stated, “Although he was the captain, whose responsibility was it? The Indian team operates according to the captain’s plans. State teams are different, but the national team is run solely by the captain.” He recalled the eras of notable captains like Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, and Mohammad Azharuddin, highlighting their control over the team.
Questions Raised About Captaincy
Tiwari questioned MS Dhoni’s role in his exclusion from the team, suggesting that he should have received more opportunities after his century. He noted that despite the lack of runs from prominent players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Suresh Raina, only he was dropped. Tiwari expressed disappointment at being left out of the playing eleven despite receiving the Player of the Match award for his century against West Indies.
Tiwari shared his experience, saying, “I was kept out of the team for 14 matches over six months. At that time, dropped players had limited opportunities to practice. I considered retirement but couldn’t due to family responsibilities.”
