The 49th match of the T20 World Cup 2024, played between England and the USA at the Kensington Oval ground in Barbados, resulted in a one-sided victory for England. This win secured their spot as the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of the tournament.

Despite a rocky start, England’s defending champions put up a remarkable show. They initially lost their opening match due to rain and then suffered a loss in their second game. However, they bounced back to claim their place in the Super-8s. Although they encountered another setback in the second match of the Super-8 round, they persevered and made it to the semi-finals.

England’s dominance was evident in their match against the USA, where they won the toss and elected to bowl first. The American team was bowled out for 115 runs in 18.5 overs. Chris Jordan and Sam Curran took two wickets each, while Adil Rashid chipped in with one. In response, England easily achieved their target in just 9.4 overs. Jos Buttler shone brightly, scoring an unbeaten 83 runs off 38 balls, and also hit 5 consecutive sixes in one over.

In the Super-8s, the stakes are high in Group 2. The 50th match of the tournament pits South Africa against the West Indies, both teams set to face off at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua. This “do or die” match for the two teams will determine the course of their participation in the tournament.
