Deadly Feud Claims Another Life in Notorious Chineppe Clan

Violence and Crime Surround the Chineppe Family

The Chineppe family, known in the Cerro and La Paloma neighborhoods of Montevideo, has been marred by a history of violence and crime. The latest incident involves the murder of 19-year-old Luciano Chineppe, who was shot in the head and legs on the road to Alianza and Miguel Javier Arigu.

Luciano’s family has been involved in various incidents, including a previous homicide in 2017, when Kevin Chineppe, 20, was murdered along with Dilan Fleitas, 18. The police had arrested three people for the double crime, but they were later released.

A Pattern of Violence

The Chineppe family has been linked to several other homicides and crimes, including the murder of Juan Pablo Chineppe, 32, who was shot to death in 2018. His cousin, Néstor Chineppe, was sentenced to 7 years and 4 months in prison for the crime.

In 2024, a triple homicide occurred in Colón, where two 17-year-olds and an 18-year-old were shot and burned inside a vehicle. A 24-year-old man with the surname Chineppe was also in the vehicle and was presumed to be the leader of a drug family clan operating in El Cerro.

Luciano Chineppe’s Involvement

Luciano Chineppe, the 19-year-old murdered this Sunday, had no criminal record but had been investigated for an attack in September 2023. He was arrested and had border closures as a limiting measure ordered by Justice.

Luciano was also investigated for firing a weapon in October 2023, but was only identified and not arrested. The police are now investigating a confrontation between gangs and seeking to determine if Luciano’s crime has any relationship with a previous homicide that occurred a week before.
