When it comes to bands visiting CDMX – and Mexico in general – the joke is “they already pay property taxes,” so there couldn’t have been a better choice than Interpol for the next big concert in the capital’s Zócalo. Whaat?!
This Monday, April 1st (and although we thought it had something to do with the so-called “April Fools’ jokes”), the head of government of CDMX, Martí Batres announced that the New York band will be performing a free show on the Zócalo Promenade next April. It is no joke!

At a conference, Batres announced details of the concert that Interpol will hold at the Zócalo of CDMX apparently it will be part of the tour celebrating 20 years of “Antics”.the band’s second album, where they gave us hits like “Evil”, “C’Mere” and others.
According to the head of government The date for the Paul Banks and Company concert is April 20th at 7 p.m. and they will join the list of artists who have given a free show in the capital, as was the case with Rosalía, Roger Waters, Paul McCartney, Julieta Venegas and many others. What a thrill!

“(Interpol) will have a concert, just like we had Sonora Santanera and Julieta Venegas, now we have a different genre of music, that “It is this rock band Interpol that also has a very important influence in our city,” Batres indicated that this concert will be a must-see.
In addition, Interpol are a favorite band of the Mexican public because with this concert the capital government tries to “break social barriers within the population of Mexico”. The American group will give the country its biggest concert of the year so far.
