Dark Side of Fantasy: New Allegations Against Acclaimed Author Emerge

What you need to know:

Several projects related to Neil Gaiman’s work have been suspended due to accusations of sexual assault against him. One of these projects is the series ‘Good Omens’, which has been canceled, with only a special chapter to conclude the story being worked on, without Gaiman’s participation.

Neil Gaiman, author of ‘The Sandman’, ‘Coraline’, and ‘Good Omens’, has been accused of sexual assault by several women, as reported in New York Magazine. Eight women have come forward with allegations against Gaiman, including Scartlett Pavlovich, who was a babysitter for Gaiman’s son and claims to have been subjected to sexual assaults by the author when she was 22 years old.

Some of the accusations against Gaiman had already come to light

Four of the testimonies collected by journalist Lila Shapiro had already been released last July in a Tortoise Media podcast. At that time, Gaiman’s representatives did not deny that their client had had sexual encounters with the complainants, but assured that everything was with the consent of both parties.

However, the accusers now claim that many of the things practiced were not consented to or even discussed before. Pavlovich, for example, remembers Gaiman telling her “Are you defying your master?” when she refused to engage in certain activities.

Gaiman would have committed some attacks near his son

Pavlovich claims that Neil Gaiman had sex with her while she was taking care of his son, almost in front of him. The writer even spoke with his son while the encounter was happening. This would have occurred in a hotel in Auckland, New Zealand.

Another woman, identified as “Coraline”, stated that Gaiman made her touch his penis, regardless of the fact that his son was lying next to her.

JK Rowling compares Gaiman’s case to that of Harvey Weinstein

JK Rowling has reproached the silence of the literary community regarding the complaints against Neil Gaiman. The author of Harry Potter compared her colleague to Harvey Weinstein, due to the number of complaints against him and the similarity of the cases narrated.
