Mathisha Pathirana did not sell in the mega auction before the IPL, but Chennai listed him as a replacement player in their squad after pacemaker Adam Milne was injured. CSK had signed Mathisha Pathirana for a base price of Rs 20 lakh. Pathirana’s action is similar to that of the legendary bowler Lasith Malinga.
