Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez grow stronger together every single day. Their bond has helped them through their toughest times. Love has been their guide.
The superstar athlete first connected with Georgina about two years after his split from Irina Shayk in 2015. Ronaldo was already a dad before these relationships began. His son, Cristiano Jr., was born in 2010. Ronaldo has always said he will never tell the public who Cristiano Jr.’s mother is.
Their first public appearance as a couple happened in January 2017. They attended the Best FIFA Football Awards in Germany. Cristiano Jr. joined them there. Years later, Ronaldo and Rodríguez spoke about how their romance started. They shared details in the Netflix show I Am Georgina, which debuted in January 2022.
"Our relationship had a very special beginning," Rodríguez told the cameras. She was working at a Gucci store when she first met Ronaldo. "Many times he would come after work. I remember one time, he came in a Bugatti. My co-workers went crazy. They arrived by bus, and I left in a Bugatti. People just couldn’t believe it."
Ronaldo, who is from Portugal, added his thoughts. "It was funny because I waited for her outside the store in these flashy cars I own," he said. "We would go home, and there we would enter our own world."
As their love story continued, their family grew. Ronaldo announced he welcomed twins, Eva and Mateo, through a surrogate. Five months later, Rodríguez gave birth to their daughter, Alana Martina. She is also the UEFA Champions League winner’s child.
"We both chose the name," the Argentine model told ¡HOLA! magazine in December 2017. "Cristiano picked Alana, and I picked Martina for her middle name. We decided to use both names we each chose. We thought it made it even more special." She also told the magazine, "When I have him next to me, I have everything. The children are our happiness. We wake up, and the first thing we do is hug and kiss them."
The couple often shared photos of their children’s big moments. Then, in October 2021, they announced Rodríguez was pregnant with twins again. Sadly, when she gave birth the following April, one of the babies died during delivery.
"Gio came home, and the children started saying, ‘Where is the other baby, where is the other baby?’" Ronaldo shared with Piers Morgan in a November 2022 interview. He was talking about the loss of their son. "The children understand. We had shouts around the table, and they said, ‘Daddy, I did this for Ángel.’ And they point to the sky. I like that more because he is part of their lives. I’m not going to lie to my kids. I tell the truth; it was a difficult time."
