Criminalistic Investigation CSI3* Maeza 2024: Teresa Blázquez Wins Grand Prix Final

Brilliant finale of the CSI3* Maeza, with Spanish victory for Teresa Blázquez in the Grand Prix

The 2024 edition of the CSI3* Maeza concluded with an intense three-day competition at the Finca Maeza Stud Farm in Sariego, Spain. The grand finale was the highlight of the event, featuring an exciting playoff between the top nine riders.

Maeza Grand Prix Winner: Teresa Blázquez Abascal

The competition concluded with an exciting playoff, where Spanish rider Teresa Blázquez Abascal, riding “Nasa de Toxandria”, took the victory. Blázquez Abascal completed the fastest route without any faults, marking a time of 43.04 seconds, beating Fernando Martínez Sommer, who completed the course in 43.46 seconds. Marlon Modolo, a Brazilian rider, took third place, also finishing in 43.46 seconds.

Foncueva Trophy Winner: Daniel Ocaña

The Foncueva Trophy, a 1.25-meter test, was won by Daniel Ocaña, riding “Furiazzo De L´Aubree”. Ana Mateos took second place, accompanied by “Providence 3”, while Axel Narolles, riding “Cuppydam du Pouey”, occupied third position.

Oquendo Trophy Winner: James Smith

British rider James Smith continued his winning streak by capturing the Oquendo Trophy with “Juno Rose 23” in a timed test over 1.40-meter obstacles. Mariano Martínez Bastida, riding “Action Force”, came second, while Irishman Billy Twomey, riding “Julius”, took third place.

Additional Trophies

The Cider Region Trophy was awarded to Mariano Martinez Bastida, based on his magnificent results over the weekend. The Murcian rider received his prize, valued at €1,000, from Cruz Maestre, director of Yeguada Finca Maeza.

The Sariego Town Hall Trophy was delivered to the young Belgian under-25 rider Thibault Philippaerts, who had been leading this additional Trophy for almost the entire competition. The rider received his award from Saul Bastián, Mayor of Sariego.

Closing Ceremony

The day and the competition closed with the performance of the Llariegu Bagpipe Band, which played the anthem of Asturias.
