Recently, director Pan Nalin’s Gujarati film ‘Chello Sho’ (The Last Show) was submitted as the Indian nominee for the Oscars in the foreign language category. But if it is a copy of a film other than this film, there are allegations of serious irregularities in the selection process.

The Federation of West Indian Film Employees (FWICE), the parent organization of 31 film organizations in the Hindi film industry, called the screening process for the film ‘Chello Show’ completely against the rules and in such a situation , the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag. Thakur has been asked to do so and a related letter has also been written.

Indian Film and Television Directors Association (IFTDA) President and Filmmaker Ashok Pandit, while speaking to ABP News, said, “The chairman of the jury that submitted the film ‘Chello Show’ for Oscar nominations, TS Nagabharna recently. It was mentioned in an interview given that ‘Chello Show’ had also made it to the jury for Oscar nomination last year, but due to the film’s lack of screening, the jury rejected the film and now after screening is done, this film has been taken as a character again. , Which is wrong.”

Ashok Pandit raises the question and says, “The time period for submitting any film for Oscar nomination is fixed, i.e. one year after the year the film was certified by the Board of Censorship, for any film nomination.” has been rejected, it’s completely against the rules to have that film re-nominated for an Oscar. In such a situation, 10-year-old movies should also be sent to the Oscars.”

Ashok Pandit further alleged that ‘Chhallo Show’ should not have been submitted for Oscar nomination because the film was entirely produced by a foreign company and then the film was given to Indian producers and sold. Ashok Pandit asks, “How did this film, made entirely by a foreign company, become Indian? Most of the equipment used in the film is also foreign.”

Drawing similarities between the poster for the Italian film ‘Cinema Paradiso’ released in 1988 and the poster for the film ‘Chello Show’, Ashok Pandit claimed that, among other accusations, the film is a copy of a very popular foreign film and that it’s also one of the main reasons, that it shouldn’t have been sent for an Oscar nomination.

Ashok Pandit has strongly opposed submitting Oscar nominations to ‘Chello Show’ as an Indian entry, saying, “We have written a letter of complaint to the Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Thakur, demanding that the films be submitted for nominations to the Oscar. The command of the film should not be in the hands of the Film Federation of India (FFI) and should be controlled by the government so that there are no more bad practices in the selection of films.”

We also tried to contact the creators of ‘Chello Show’ in this regard, but received no response from them regarding these accusations as of this writing.
