Conor McGregor’s Return to the Octagon: What to Expect
Conor McGregor, the Irish mixed martial artist, has been out of action for three years since breaking his leg at UFC 264. Despite attempts to lure him out of retirement, McGregor has remained committed to his return to the octagon.
Return Date
McGregor’s return is currently scheduled for the end of the year, with a fight against Michael Chandler. Initially, the fight was expected to take place at The Sphere in Las Vegas on September 14, but it seems that will no longer be the case.
Injury and Recovery
McGregor announced his toe injury, cancelling the fight with Chandler until further notice. He has since been seen in Dublin, supporting his training partner Sinead Kavanagh at a Bellator event. McGregor announced that he will be 100% ready for the fight with Chandler.
When Will McGregor Return?
There has been some speculation about McGregor’s return date. Dana White, the UFC president, has stated that August and September are months in which the events have already been completed, and he will not do anything until he knows that McGregor is really healthy. Ariel Helwani, a journalist, has also given his opinion on the date of the match, stating that it will likely take place in December.
The Rivalry between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler
The rivalry between Chandler and McGregor has not taken off yet. Both fighters have been correct in their statements until Chandler’s post on X when he saw McGregor in Bellator. The rivalry escalated when McGregor referred to Chandler as a "little Bellator tick" with two crying emojis during The Ultimate Fighter.
