One of the latest literary phenomena that arrives on Netflix, ‘Through my window’, the film adaptation of the homonymous novel by Ariana Godoy that premieres on the platform this February 4. The first book of a trilogy, which narrates the impossible love of Raquel Mendoza (Clara Galle), a young woman of humble origins, and Ares Hidalgo (Julio Peña), the middle son of the Hidalgo family, one of the most powerful in Barcelona. “It has been a wonderful experience seeing my characters come to life on screen.” the author points out.
In the wake of other youth productions such as the ‘After’ or ‘Twilight’ saga, ‘Through My Window’ has conquered the public with a story of an impossible romance. “Those difficult loves are the ones that attract both the readers and the viewers as well. We have all gone through that infatuation with a person who did not correspond or we have been disappointed. On the other hand, I think they also liked it because of the charisma of its protagonists”Godoy highlights in an interview for Europa Press.
‘Through my window’ follows in the footsteps of Raquel, a young woman who has spent her whole life crazy about Ares, her attractive and mysterious neighbor whom she observes without being seen. Raquel is very clear about her goal: to get Ares to fall in love with her. But she is not an innocent child and she is not willing to lose everything along the way, least of all herself.
In that impossible love, the film contains several scenes of explicit sex, sequences that had a novel figure in the Spanish industry and that is becoming more and more frequent: the intimacy coordinator. “I’ve been saying it forever, there must be an intimacy coach on set. In my career, I haven’t done these scenes without one. We feel very safe and cared for and it is essential. He is a figure that must be in the productions” sentenced Clara Galle.
“It allowed us to have peace of mind in these sequences. There was a respect and affection that made us not be afraid of these scenes” adds Julio Peña. “Once you have had an intimacy coordinator, you realize how important this figure is in the shoot. He is a key figure who has to become the norm” shares Marçal Forés, director of this film adaptation.
A successful literary trilogy
‘Through my window’ is the first installment of a literary trilogy, entitled ‘Hermanos Hidalgo’, whose next two installments are ‘Through you’ and ‘Through the rain’. A phenomenon that began on the online platform Wattpad and is currently edited by Alfaguara. “It will be the response of the public that says if there is a possibility of seeing the following two novels adapted”shares Forés.
“Hopefully, I want to see how the love story of Raquel and Ares continues, how it evolves. Also, learn more about the rest of the Hidalgo brothers. I hope it is well received by the fans.”Galle adds.
Directed by Marçal Forés and written by Eduard Solà, who adapts the book by Venezuelan author Ariana Godoy. Along with Clara Galle and Julio Peña, Hugo Arbués, Eric Masip, Natalia Azahara, Guillermo Lasheras, Emilia Lazo, Pilar Castro, María Casals, Lucía de la Puerta, Abel Folk and Rachel Lascar complete the cast.
