Chinese Climber’s Fatal Selfie Fall on Mount Nama, Sichuan

A tragic accident unfolded on Nama Peak in China’s Sichuan Province, claiming the life of a climber. He reportedly removed his safety rope to snap a selfie, then lost his footing and fell hundreds of feet. The shocking moment was caught on video and quickly spread across social media.

The young climber, identified only by his surname Hong, was around 30 years old. Reports indicate this was his first visit to Nama Peak. Eyewitnesses watched in horror as Mr. Hong took off his safety gear. He wanted to get a picture, but as he tried to stand up, he tripped on his spiked climbing shoes. He plunged 100 to 200 meters down the sheer cliff face.
