When it comes to supersonic flight, one plane stands out – the Concorde. This iconic jet could travel from London to New York in just three hours. Its first test flight in 1969 seemed like a miracle.
It was a dream come true, allowing a London executive to fly to New York after breakfast and return home for dinner.
The Concorde flew over 2,000 kilometers per hour and pilots loved it. But it had two major issues: noise and price. Tickets cost up to $12,000, and many paid it.
Then, disaster struck. An engine failed, and 114 people died. Three years later, the Concorde stopped flying.
For years, nothing was heard about supersonic passenger jets.
Now, China is working on a new supersonic plane that can fly over 1,900 kilometers per hour.
The goal is to make it cheaper by carrying more passengers and quieter than the Concorde. In fact, the Chinese claim it will be quieter than a hair dryer.
