CBFC Cuts 10-Second Bold Scenes from Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara Film

Mohit Suri, a director known for crafting emotional stories, has a new film hitting theaters. It’s titled ‘Saiyaara,’ and it’s scheduled for release on July 18. However, before the big day, the movie has had a little chat with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). This group reviews films before they reach the public.

‘Saiyaara’ introduces two fresh faces, Ahan Panday and Aneet Padda, as the lead pair. Reports suggest their onscreen chemistry looks quite promising. But the CBFC decided some parts of their story needed a trim. Specifically, about ten seconds of “bold scenes” were removed from the film. The board also asked the filmmakers to change some “objectionable words” in the script.

After these adjustments, the CBFC granted ‘Saiyaara’ a U/A 16+ certificate. This rating means the film is suitable for viewers aged 16 and above, with parental guidance suggested for younger audiences. While the exact list of removed scenes or changed words isn’t public, these steps were necessary to get the film certified. The board also added a small but important detail. Any scene showing a two-wheeler now includes a static message. It’s a reminder for riders to wear a helmet, which is a good safety tip.

Mohit Suri is no stranger to the silver screen. He’s previously directed popular films like ‘Aashiqui 2,’ ‘Awarapan,’ and ‘Malang.’ Aneet Padda also gained praise for her acting in ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry.’ This background sets a high bar for ‘Saiyaara.’

The film is set to open worldwide on July 18. Early reports suggest that advance ticket bookings are looking good. Now, everyone is waiting to see how ‘Saiyaara’ performs once it hits the big screen.

A Common Tale of Cuts

The situation with ‘Saiyaara’ isn’t an isolated incident. Film certification bodies around the world often make changes. Recently, the Hollywood movie ‘Superman’ also faced cuts before its release. About 33 seconds were removed from that film. This decision sparked a big debate on social media. Many fans were quite upset about the changes. It shows that film boards everywhere are keeping a close watch on what audiences see.
