IND vs ENG: The second semi-final match of the T20 World Cup 2024 is scheduled to take place between India and England. Earlier, the two teams clashed in the T20 World Cup 2022, where the English team emerged victorious by 10 wickets. Ahead of the semi-final match, Indian team captain Rohit Sharma stressed the importance of staying calm and keeping things simple under pressure.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma makes a big statement before the semi-final

In a pre-match press conference, Rohit Sharma responded to a question about whether his team’s inability to win the world title was due to fear of failure or bad luck in previous attempts. “It has been a bit of both,” he said. “We want to take it like a normal match. We don’t want to talk about it being a semi-final. We’re enjoying each other’s company, and we need to continue doing so. It’s a knockout match. If you think too much, it’s of no use.”

Rohit expresses confidence in the players

Rohit Sharma stated in the post-match press conference that not much had changed since 2022. “We have tried to play with an open mind in T20 and ODI. It all depends on the circumstances, which were challenging throughout the tournament.” He emphasized the importance of being a “smart” cricket team, adding that he has kept things simple personally and for the players as well. “We have done well with clarity in the role and trusting the players to make good decisions on the field.”

Spinners get a helping hand in West Indies

Rohit Sharma noted that everyone knows they need to get the job done. “We don’t need to change anything from 2022 to 2024. The wickets in the Caribbean grounds are helpful for spin bowling, but he did not commit to playing four spinners in the team or not. Wrist spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel have performed exceptionally well in the West Indies leg of the tournament. Rohit said that they will assess the conditions and then decide on the team’s strategy.
