Cañeros reciben a Frink y Polanco desde Reales por Thomas y Rodríguez

The Cañeros del Este received the players Alanzo Frink and Bryan Polanco from the Reales de La Vega this Wednesday with a view to continuing to strengthen the team for the upcoming season of the National Basketball League (LNB).

"We have made a bet as an organization for two young, talented players who are hungry to show in Cañeros del Este that they are capable on the field" emphasized sports manager Rafael Faneyte.

These players arrived via transfer from Cañeros to Reales for Jeromy Rodríguez and Yomar Thomas.

Frink is a stocky 6’7”, 23-year-old who plays the power forward position and is coming back from playing NCAA college basketball, where he averaged 5.7 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in four seasons. He was chosen in the 2022 draft as the first pick of Reales de la Vega.

He participated in the Superior Basketball Tournament of the National District with the San Lázaro Club, where he showed his athletic abilities in one of the highest level tournaments in the country. He is currently participating with the Sameji Club in the Santiago Superior Basketball Tournament.

Bryan Polanco is a 6’6”, 25-year-old forward who played for NCAA Division II Shorter University. There he had an outstanding performance in the 2019-20 season where he averaged 15.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.6 assists in his senior year. In addition, he shot 50% from the field, 30% from 3-point range and 74% from free throws.

The Dominican comes from playing last season in the local league defending the El Millón jersey in the TBS District, where in 7 games he averaged 16 minutes per game and 6 goals, during the reduced 2020-2021 campaign of capital basketball. This credited him with a signing in the Spanish LEB Silver League with the Udejas Algeciras club where he averaged 5.0 points per game, 1.8 rebounds and 0.5 assists.

“We are confident that both Frink and Polanco will do an excellent job and earn the respect of the fans of La Romana and Higüey this coming season. They arrive very hungry and willing to give everything for the franchise”, expressed Rafael Faneyte.

Los Cañeros remain active making moves to go after their third title in the best league played in the country, which is scheduled to start in May.
