Candelario da triunfo a Detroit con jonrón en la décima

Jeimer Candelario broke the tie with a two-run homer in the 10th inning after Harold Castro hit two homers, and the Detroit Tigers rallied to beat the Minnesota Twins 4-2 on Wednesday.

Candelario found the first pitch from Trevor Megill (0-1), a fastball, and sent the ball to the grass behind the center-field fence, just out of reach of fellow Dominican Gilberto Celestino’s glove.

The shot pushed the automatic runner and gave the Tigers the lead for the first time during this series, in which they avoided the sweep.

The Twins, who had a six-game winning streak snapped, loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom half. Michael Fulmer struck out Carlos Correa before giving up the mound to Andrew Chafin, who struck out Max Kepler and retired Gary Sanchez via lob for his first save of the season.

Castro hit solo homers in the sixth and eighth innings after hitting just nine homers in his previous 799 major league at-bats.

For the Tires, Colombian Castro 4-3 with two runs scored and two produced. The Venezuelan Miguel Cabrera 1-0. Puerto Ricans Javier Báez 4-0, Willi Castro 5-2. The Dominican Candelario 4-1 with a run scored and two RBIs.

For the Twins, the Venezuelan Luis Arráez 5-1. Puerto Rican Carlos Correa 5-2. The Dominicans Sánchez 4-0 with a run scored, Celestino 4-0. Colombian Gio Urshela 4-1.
