The fair, organized by the Dominican Agribusiness Board (JAD) and the Export and Investment Center of the Dominican Republic (ProDominicana), concluded with record figures that consolidated it as the largest and most successful that has been held to date in the sector. agro-industrial and agricultural sector of the Dominican Republic, according to Biviana Riveiro Disla, executive director of ProDominicana.

Riveiro indicated that this trade fair for agricultural and agro-industrial products had an increase compared to 2019, this, based on the fact that projected sales for that period were US$350 million, which represents an increase of 17% in contrast with the business intentions closed in the 2023 edition.

In addition, he informed that in this edition we received more than 170 buyers from 32 countries. Likewise, he highlighted that the countries that had the greatest participation in business intentions were the United States with US$32 million, followed by Spain US$54.8 million, Panama US$39.3 million, the Netherlands US9.3 million, the United Kingdom US7 million, Colombia US1.1 million, Venezuela US$6.6 million and Bahamas US$6.5 million.

It should be noted that the products with the highest demand are: avocado US$15.7 million, Mango US$87.5 million, vegetables mainly chili peppers and peppers US$28.6 million, plantains and bananas US$23.7 million, while rum is positioned at US3.7 million, beer malt US$8.5 million, fruit juices US$8.5 million and pineapples US$8.3 million.

Osmar C. Benítez, executive president of the (JAD) pointed out that the 8th. version of Agroalimentaria showed the country and the world the enormous potential that the Dominican Republic has to conquer the main consumer markets of developed countries,

Benítez indicated that the diversity of products and the quality of these impressed most of the buyers who came to the country.

He expressed that the Dominican producers are prepared to venture positively into the competitive international market.

Benítez assured that the country’s agri-food industry will continue to rise. “We will work to continue promoting agriculture in the Dominican fields with the sole purpose of placing our products in the most important markets in the world,” he assured.

Likewise, the executive director stated that this joint effort with the JAD has been successful for both entities. At the same time, she pointed out the commitment to continue promoting exports from the Dominican Republic, which since the beginning of the Government of President Luis Abinader, have been promoted through the National Export Promotion Plan (PNFE). It is worth noting that these business connections lead us to continuous monitoring from ProDominicana, to achieve the goals set.

“Our focus is to continue diversifying and promoting Dominican exports in all international markets with the sole purpose of continuing to work to boost our economy and achieve a better quality of life for all Dominicans,” he said.
