Brazilian Sentenced to 11 Years for Uruguayan Homicide in Rivera

Early Wednesday, a man’s life ended violently on the streets of Rivera. Neighbors found him near the corner of Julio Herrera y Obes and Ansina, gravely injured. They quickly called the police for help.

When officers arrived, they confirmed the man had already passed away. They secured the area, allowing the Scientific Police to examine the scene. Police moved quickly, and within hours, they had a suspect. A 22-year-old Brazilian man was taken into custody. Records showed he had committed crimes in his home country before. Justice acted swiftly. The court determined he was indeed responsible for the killing and handed down an 11-year prison sentence.

Investigators believe the violence stemmed from a conflict over drugs. The victim had a history with the law himself, holding eight criminal records.
