Jon Bon Jovi is preparing for a significant return to the stage following a vocal cord injury. The 63-year-old rock icon recently reflected on his challenging recovery and renewed commitment to performing.
During an October 23 interview on NBC’s Today with Savannah Guthrie, Bon Jovi discussed a point where he considered ending his career. He stated he would not continue if he could not sing to his desired standard.
Bon Jovi clarified that his motivation comes from "joy and art," not applause. He emphasized that performance must stem from a place of genuine satisfaction.
In 2022, Bon Jovi underwent surgery to address an atrophied vocal cord. He explained that a stronger cord was negatively impacting a weaker one, which was "dying."
A surgeon ultimately placed an implant on the outside of his vocal cords to aid in recovery. Bon Jovi attributes the injury to 40 years of demanding work, without pinpointing a specific cause.
He has now announced the Forever Tour, scheduled to begin in 2026. The tour will kick off with four concerts at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden before moving to Europe.
Bon Jovi described his journey back as "long" and "difficult," but marked by perseverance. He expressed confidence in his ability to deliver full two-and-a-half-hour sets nightly.
He compared his training regimen to preparing for a marathon. This involves extensive physical, mental, and spiritual readiness to ensure consistent performance.
Despite numerous moments of doubt, Bon Jovi found encouragement in "a little ray of hope." He persevered through setbacks, always striving for a brighter day.
The upcoming Forever Tour will feature tracks from the band’s new album, Forever (Legendary Edition). This record is set for release on Friday, October 24.
The album includes new versions of songs from their 2024 Forever album. It features collaborations with artists such as Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Avril Lavigne, Bruce Springsteen, and Robbie Williams.
Bon Jovi hinted at potential guest appearances from these collaborators during the tour. He noted that while it wouldn’t be a daily occurrence, guest artists could "jump up" if they were in town and remembered the song.
The Forever Tour officially begins on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. It will conclude on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Wembley Stadium in London.
