Bologna FC coach Vincenzo Italiano has been hospitalized with pneumonia and will miss the club’s upcoming Europa League match, the Italian Serie A team announced Tuesday.
Italiano was admitted to the hospital on Monday and is expected to remain for five days, undergoing antibiotic treatment.
The club stated his pneumonia is believed to be bacterial and not related to COVID-19.
His clinical condition is “slowly improving,” according to the team’s statement.
Italiano will not be on the bench for Thursday’s Europa League fixture against Steaua Bucureste in Romania.
