Bolivia Requests Extradition of Drug Trafficker’s Wife from Spain
Global Crime
Bolivian authorities are seeking the extradition of Giannina García Troche, the wife of drug trafficker Sebastián Marset, who was arrested this week in Spain. García Troche has been accused of committing five crimes in the Santa Cruz department, for which she is facing criminal proceedings.
According to Fausto Juan Lanchina Pone, the Attorney General of Bolivia, García Troche was denounced and is currently subject to criminal proceedings for her alleged involvement in illegal activities. Bolivia has requested extradition through international legal cooperation, citing the criminal charges against her.
Bolivian authorities have 60 days to formally submit their extradition request, although Paraguay has priority in extradition, having issued the Interpol red alert for her capture.
This development is a significant blow to García Troche’s ability to evade justice, as her arrest and potential extradition will allow Bolivia to pursue its criminal charges against her. The extradition process is expected to be complex, with both countries having different legal systems and procedures in place.
It remains to be seen whether García Troche will ultimately be extradited to Bolivia to face justice. For now, her arrest and potential extradition represent a significant step forward in the pursuit of global justice and the fight against drug trafficking.
